  3. 2027 Annual Open Enrollment

If you don’t enroll in or make changes to your benefits, your current benefits will continue in 2027, except flexible spending accounts (FSA) and health savings accounts (HSA) — these don’t automatically carry over to the next year, you must re-enroll every year.

Your next opportunity to change your benefit elections will be during next year’s open enrollment period, unless you experience a qualified life event.

  • Spousal Surcharge Waiver Form if you enrolled your spouse in the medical plan or if your spouse will continue to be enrolled in the medical plan in 2027.
  • Supporting documentation establishing dependent status relationship for any dependents you newly enrolled. This is not required if documentation for any dependent has already been submitted.

Not sure which plan to choose? Scroll through these examples:

Meet Nikki and Frank

Nikki and Frank live an active lifestyle with two kids. Nikki enrolled in the BCBSIL High Deductible Health Plan with HSA because it offers lower premiums and the opportunity to save tax-free for current and future healthcare expenses.

Meet Jason

Jason enrolled in the BCBSIL High Deductible Health Plan with HSA because the premiums are affordable. Plus, he likes the tax advantages and long-term savings opportunities of the HSA.

Meet Ian and Robert

Ian and his husband Robert try to live a healthy lifestyle, but face some additional challenges. They’re very careful about seeing their primary care physicians regularly and keeping up with recommended screenings and check-ups.

Meet Maya

As a newly single mother, Maya is watching her expenses carefully. After considering each option, she chose the BCBSIL PPO 1500 because she likes the balanced approach of lower premiums and moderate deductible of the BCBSIL PPO 1500.

Meet Stefan and Rachel

Stefan and Rachel have a history of frequent medical visits due to Stefan’s health issues that require regular specialist visits and occasional hospitalizations, plus routine check-ups for their three children.
