Paid Leave

The American Lung Association offers paid vacation, sick and personal leave, as well as paid holidays.

Eligibility

  • All regular full-time and part-time employees working at least 20 hours per week are eligible for paid leave benefits.
  • Part-time employees working 20 hours or more per week earn paid leave on a pro-rated basis.

Vacation Leave

Full-time employees accrue vacation leave on a semi-monthly basis. Employees can carryover up to 210 hours (30 days) of unused vacation leave into the new fiscal year.

Sick Leave

Full-time employees accrue 4.38 hours of sick leave on a semi-monthly basis, up to 105 hours (15 days) per year.

You can accrue and carryover a maximum of 420 hours (60 days) of unused sick time each year.

Personal Leave

Employees earn two (2) personal days on the first day of each fiscal year (July 1). Unused personal days cannot be carried over beyond the fiscal year in which they are earned.

The number of personal days earned in the first year of service depends on the date of hire:

Holidays

The Lung Association’s offices will be closed on these recognized holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King Day
  • President’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Day after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year’s Eve

Part-time employees who are not regularly scheduled to work on the day of the week on which a recognized holiday falls do not earn holiday pay.
